AustSafe Super Chairman receives - Queensland Great - title


AustSafe Super  Chairman, Sir Leo Hielscher AC has been honoured by Premier Beattie as a Queensland Great for his contributions to the state’s development.

Sir Leo is one of five distinguished and regarded Queenslanders to receive one of the state’s prestigious accolades for his contributions to shaping Queensland’s -Smart- profile.

With over 50 years experience in the banking and finance industry, domestic and global financial markets and the superannuation industry, Sir Leo has been acclaimed as one of the key figures responsible for transforming Queensland’s economy over the past 40 years in his positions as Under-Treasurer and the inaugural Chairman of Queensland Treasury Corporation.

The newly awarded Queensland Great continues to be a contributor to various private and public sector boards, including his role as the inaugural Chairman of industry super fund, AustSafe Super.

According to AustSafe Super, Sir Leo’s experience has provided AustSafe Super with unique leadership and has helped to establish the Fund’s position as one of the country’s better performers in superannuation.

Sir Leo received his award at an official ceremony which marked the start of Queensland Week.
