Credit Suisse scaling up its Private Banking operations with a series of new hires

Credit Suisse  announced the appointment of Nicholas Kalikajaros as Managing Director and Head of Private Banking Australia based in Sydney.

The appointment is effective from October 10, 2007. The bank is also scaling up its domestic Private Banking operations with a series of new hires.

According to Credit Suisse, Australia is one of the priority markets in Credit suisse's strategy of enhancing its onshore Private Banking footprint in global growth markets, and dedicated management and resources are essential to ensure the long term success of its newly launched domestic Private Banking business.

With a 26 year career in Australia's banking industry, Nick brings to Credit Suisse a wealth of knowledge and experience, and will lead its expanding local team to develop its business in the fast growing Australian Private Banking market.

He will focus on leveraging Credit Suisse’s integrated banking platform with its established Investment Banking and Asset Management divisions to offer a comprehensive range of services and deliver the benefits of the entire bank to its clients.

Kalikajaros joins Credit Suisse from Merrill Lynch where he was Head of Global Private Clients Australia and New Zealand. Prior to that, Kalikajaros was the General Manager at St George Private Bank and Co-Head of UBS Private Clients Australia Limited (formerly Potter Warburg Securities Limited).

He also held senior roles in Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Based in Sydney, Kalikajaros will report to François Monnet, Head of Private Banking Southeast Asia and Australasia, who will join Credit Suisse from September 1.

On a country level, Kalikajaros will also report to David Trude, Sydney Branch Manager and Country Head Australia.

Since the launch of its Private Banking operations in Australia at the end of 2006, Credit Suisse has been successfully building its local team in Sydney and Melbourne across all roles, from relationship managers, product specialists, investment professionals to business management.

Some key appointments include the following:

Shane Galligan has been appointed Head of Products for Private Banking Australia based in Melbourne, responsible for developing and implementing a domestic Private Banking offering, specifically designed for the Australian investor.

Galligan has 25 years of experience with National Australia Bank, covering trading, structured products, treasury and client-driven platform initiatives in the UK, Tokyo and Australia.

Rene Pyszko has joined Credit Suisse in Sydney as a Vice President and Investment Specialist Managed Funds\Equities.

Pyszko joined from Citi Smith Barney where he was Vice President for Product Research. He has over 13 years experience in investment research and financial markets with St George Private Bank, ASSIRT, UBS Private Clients Australia Limited (formerly Potter Warburg Securities Limited) and COUNT Financial Group.

David McDonald is joining Credit Suisse as a Vice President and Research Analyst based in Sydney, effective from July 23.

Prior to Credit Suisse, McDonald was a Senior Research Analyst at Allianz Global Investors and has 20 years experience in the investment management industry in Australia and overseas with HSBC Asset Management, ANZ Asset Management, INVESCO Asset Management, NSW State Super and AMP Asset Management in Australia and the UK.
