Quadrant supports FPA campaign that promote discussion about financial issues
The Do not ask Dazza campaign may be missing the mark with its message to consumers according to almost two thirds of members of the Financial Planning Association.
Commenting on the recent results of the FPA survey about the Value of Advice Dazza advertising campaign, Quadrant Chief Executive Officer Wayne Davy said that the message may be discouraging people to start a conversation regarding their retirement savings plans with friends and family.
According to Quadrant, it is a great initiative of the FPA to encourage people to seek financial advice from a qualified professional and they fully support that aspect of the campaign.
However, any message to consumers really needs to encourage people to talk about their finances, conversations are a vital part of the process.
Many people find it increasingly difficult to manage their finances and plan for the future because of the complicated nature of the financial industry. Such little knowledge also makes the prospect of visiting a financial planner a daunting experience.
The more Quadrant encourages people to think about their financial future and provide practical tools to improve their financial literacy, the likely it is they will take that crucial next step to actually visiting a planner.
It makes sense that if people are willing to improve their awareness of their financial situation, and are encouraged to talk about it with their reference group, they will be willing to do something pro-active about it.
